Couch Questions ("the App") is a social party game. The developer ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it. Sections 1 to 7 are about the App, section 8 lists the services we rely on, and section 9 covers our website, couchapps.eu.
We do not collect, store, or process any personal information. Specifically:
When you use the on-device AI feature to generate custom cards, all processing happens locally on your device using Apple's Foundation Models. No data leaves your device. Your group descriptions and generated cards are not transmitted, stored, or accessible to us.
When you choose the cloud AI option, your group description and game settings (vibe level, card depth, game mode) are sent to our server to generate cards. This data is:
To protect our cloud AI service from abuse, the App uses anonymous authentication provided by Supabase. This creates a temporary, anonymous session token that contains no personally identifiable information. We do not link this token to any individual or device. The token is used solely to authorize requests to our card generation service.
We collect fully anonymized, aggregated usage analytics via PostHog, hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt). This data is used solely to understand feature usage and improve the App. Analytics data:
No advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking are used. We do not participate in any ad networks or data sharing arrangements.
The read-aloud feature uses Apple's built-in speech synthesis (AVSpeechSynthesizer) and processes all text locally on your device. No audio or text data is sent to any server for this feature.
Subscription purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs the handling of your purchase data.
We do not use any advertising SDKs, social media SDKs, or other third-party tracking services.
This section covers couchapps.eu, including the Couch Questions pages. The website has no accounts, forms or ads, and its pages load no content (such as fonts, scripts or images) from other companies' servers.
Hosting. The website is hosted by Cloudflare. To deliver a page, Cloudflare's servers have to process technical data such as your IP address and browser type; we do not use it to identify you.
Anonymous visit statistics, without cookies. To understand how the website is used, we measure visits with PostHog, hosted in the EU (Frankfurt). By default, nothing is stored on your device. We record which pages you view and for how long, how far you scroll, where on a page you click, tap or rest the pointer (including the App Store button), the website and any campaign tags in the link that brought you here, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language and time zone, your country (worked out by Cloudflare from your IP address), how fast pages load, and technical errors. To tell visits apart without a cookie, PostHog turns your IP address and browser details, together with a random value that changes every day, into a code that cannot be reversed, and then discards the IP address. So we cannot recognise you on another day. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; Art. 7, IX and Art. 10 LGPD).
A cookie, only if you accept. If you choose Accept in the cookie banner, PostHog also stores a first-party cookie and data in your browser's storage to recognise your browser when you come back, for up to 12 months, so we can tell new visitors from returning ones. For these visits, PostHog also works out your approximate location from your IP address (region, city and postcode, not just your country), and then discards the IP address. Our legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; Art. 7, I and Art. 8 LGPD), which you can withdraw at any time, as easily as you gave it. We never make session recordings of your visits.
Your choice. Use Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to accept, decline or change your mind. We remember your choice in a small cookie for 12 months, then ask again. Declining turns off the cookie; the anonymous statistics above continue. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat it as an objection and do not load analytics on the website at all.
Retention and transfers. Analytics data is deleted automatically at the end of PostHog's retention period for our plan, currently one year. The data is stored in the EU. If you visit from outside the EU, for example from Brazil, it is transferred to the EU, where the GDPR protects it, and PostHog processes it on our behalf. We never sell it or use it for advertising.
The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since we collect no personal data, no special provisions are required under COPPA or similar regulations.
We retain no user data. Game state, settings, and preferences are stored locally on your device and can be deleted by uninstalling the App. How long website statistics are kept is described in section 9.
The App collects no personal data about you (see section 1), so there is nothing from the App for us to access, correct, delete or port.
On the website, if you accepted cookies, PostHog holds analytics data linked to a random ID stored in your browser. You have the right to access, correct, delete or port that data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Under the LGPD you can also ask us to confirm whether we process your data, to anonymise or block it, which companies we share it with (see section 8), and what happens if you do not consent: nothing changes on the website, except that no analytics cookie is stored. You can object to the anonymous statistics by turning on Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track in your browser. Declining in Cookie settings deletes the analytics cookie straight away. To have earlier data deleted, write to us: we will explain how to find the ID in your browser, since it is the only way we can locate your data.
You can also complain to a data protection authority, such as the one where you live or work. In Brazil, that is the ANPD (Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados).
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated date. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
